What tissue paper does for a parcel

Tissue is the cheapest part of an unboxing and often the part people remember. It hides the product until the moment the lid lifts, it stops items rubbing together, and a repeat logo makes even a plain kraft box feel branded. Boutiques, candle makers, jewelry sellers and clothing brands use it for exactly that reason. It adds almost no weight to the parcel, which matters when you ship daily.

What it does not do is protect. Tissue will not cushion a glass jar or stop a crushed corner. Think of it as presentation with a little scuff protection, and pair it with a proper box. Our custom mailer boxes and gift mailer boxes are common partners.

Choosing the paper weight and size

Tissue is measured in grams per square metre, and it is a very light stock, far thinner than anything used for a box. Lighter sheets drape and crinkle nicely around small items. A slightly heavier sheet resists tearing and shows less print show-through from the back. If you wrap sharp-cornered products, lean toward the sturdier end.

For sheet size, lay your wrapped product on a table with the tissue folded around it and measure how much overlap you want. A common mistake is ordering sheets too small, which forces a single flat fold and leaves the corners peeking out. A little excess looks more generous than a tight wrap. Printing a logo or an all-over pattern

Two layouts dominate. A small repeating logo on a clean background looks understated and prints cheaply, while a full-bleed pattern or a bold color makes a louder impression. Fewer ink colors generally mean a simpler job. Solid color fields need careful ink handling on thin paper, since heavy coverage can wrinkle the sheet, so if you want a deep color, ask us about the best approach for that artwork.

Tissue versus other wrapping options

If your goal is a thicker, more giftable wrap, our custom wrapping paper is the sturdier route.
