Custom printed tissue paper is the branded wrapping inside the box, the layer the customer moves before they reach the product. It costs less per order than almost anything else you can print, and it is the simplest way to make a plain mailer feel considered. We print it with your logo, your pattern or your colors, in your sizes, with no minimum order.

Sizes, and how much tissue a box actually needs
Most brands over order sheet size and under order sheet count. A sheet has to wrap the product with an overlap, not just cover it, so measure the product laid flat and allow roughly double the width.
| Sheet size | Suits | Sheets per unit |
|---|---|---|
| 10 x 15 in | Jewelry, cosmetics, small accessories, candle singles | 1 |
| 15 x 20 in | A folded t-shirt, skincare sets, small gift boxes | 1 to 2 |
| 20 x 30 in | Hoodies, homeware, subscription boxes, multi item orders | 1 to 2 |
| 24 x 36 in | Bedding, large apparel, oversized retail boxes | 1 |
If you are unsure, send us the internal dimensions of your box and what goes in it, and we will tell you the sheet size and how many sheets to allow per order.
Which print style suits your brand
- Single color repeat logo. The most common choice and the simplest to print. Your mark tiled across the sheet in one color. Reads clearly even when the tissue is crumpled, which is how it is usually seen.
- Two color pattern. A logo plus a secondary motif or a color block. More presence without the cost of full color.
- Full color artwork. Photographic or illustrated designs, seasonal prints, edge to edge. Best where the tissue is doing the whole job of the unboxing.
- Printed both sides. Worth it when the tissue is folded over the product so both faces show. Otherwise it is money spent on a face nobody sees.
One practical note that saves reprints. Tissue is thin, so heavy ink coverage shows through to the reverse. If you want a dark solid across the whole sheet, tell us at quote stage and we will advise whether to print it or to use colored tissue with a lighter mark on top.
Paper weight, and when 17 gsm is not enough
17 gsm is the retail standard and it is right for almost everything. It drapes, it crumples the way people expect, and it is light enough that it barely registers on your shipping weight. Go heavier when the tissue is being asked to protect rather than present, for example between stacked ceramics or around anything with an edge that can cut through a light sheet.
Ask for acid free tissue if you sell jewelry, silver, leather or natural fiber textiles. Ordinary tissue is slightly acidic, and over months in storage that acidity tarnishes metal and yellows fabric. Acid free tissue is pH neutral and does not. It costs a little more and it prevents a category of complaint that is expensive to argue about.
Is tissue paper recyclable?
Usually not, and this is the opposite of what most people assume, so it is worth getting right before you print a recycling claim on your packaging.
Tissue paper is made from very short fibers, in most cases because the paper has already been through the recycling process several times. Fiber gets shorter each cycle, and once it is that short it is no longer useful to a paper mill. That is why most kerbside programmes exclude tissue paper even though it is unquestionably paper.
What it can usually do instead is compost or be reused, provided it is uncoated, has no glitter, no foil and no plastic lamination. Foiled and metallic tissue is neither recyclable nor compostable, so if sustainability is part of your brand story, choose a printed matte tissue and skip the foil.
Kerbside rules vary by municipality, so check locally before you make a claim in print.
How to use tissue paper so it actually lands
The tissue is doing a job in the two seconds after the lid comes off, so it is worth being deliberate about it.
- Line the box so the tissue comes up the sides and folds over the top. Tissue lying flat under the product does nothing.
- Close it with a sticker or a belly band carrying the same mark. That single point of contact is what makes it feel finished rather than stuffed.
- Print the logo at a size that survives crumpling. A fine, detailed mark disappears in the folds.
- Pick a color that contrasts with the box interior. Tissue the same shade as the board is invisible.

Frequently asked questions
What size tissue paper do I need?
Measure the product laid flat and allow roughly double the width, because a sheet has to wrap with an overlap rather than just cover it. As a starting point, 10 by 15 inches suits jewelry and small cosmetics, 15 by 20 suits a folded t-shirt or a skincare set, 20 by 30 suits hoodies and subscription boxes, and 24 by 36 suits bedding and large apparel. Send us your box dimensions and we will confirm the sheet size and how many sheets to allow per order.
What weight is packaging tissue paper?
Seventeen gsm is the retail standard and it is right for almost everything. It drapes, it crumples the way people expect, and it barely registers on your shipping weight. Go heavier only when the tissue has to protect rather than present, for example between stacked ceramics or around anything with an edge that can cut through a light sheet.
What is acid free tissue paper and do I need it?
Acid free tissue is pH neutral. Ordinary tissue is slightly acidic, and over months in storage that acidity tarnishes metal and yellows fabric. If you sell jewelry, silver, leather or natural fiber textiles, acid free tissue costs a little more and prevents a category of complaint that is expensive to argue about.
Is tissue paper recyclable?
Usually not, which is the opposite of what most people assume. Tissue is made from very short fibers, in most cases because the paper has already been recycled several times, and once the fiber is that short a mill cannot use it. Most kerbside programmes therefore exclude it. Uncoated tissue with no glitter, foil or lamination can normally be composted or reused instead. Check your local rules before printing a recycling claim.
Can tissue paper be printed in full color?
Yes. Options run from a single color repeat logo, which is the most common and the simplest to print, through a two color pattern, to full color edge to edge artwork. Tissue is thin, so heavy ink coverage shows through to the reverse. If you want a dark solid across the whole sheet, tell us at quote stage and we will advise whether to print it or to use colored tissue with a lighter mark on top.
Should I print both sides of the tissue?
Only when the tissue is folded over the product so both faces are visible. Otherwise it is money spent on a face nobody sees. If in doubt, print one side and spend the difference on a larger sheet or a better color match.
How do I make tissue paper look good in the box?
Line the box so the tissue comes up the sides and folds over the top, rather than lying flat underneath the product. Close it with a sticker or a belly band carrying the same mark. Print the logo large enough to survive crumpling, because fine detail disappears in the folds. And pick a color that contrasts with the box interior, since tissue the same shade as the board is invisible.
Is there a minimum order for custom tissue paper?
No. There is no minimum quantity and no minimum order fee, so you can print a short run to check the color and the mark size before scaling. Free design, a free digital proof and free samples come with it.
Pairs with: custom mailer boxes, rigid boxes, gift boxes, subscription boxes and custom packaging tape. Also see custom wrapping paper and header card packaging.
