Why white, and what it does for your artwork
A white wrap is the most neutral base you can print on. Colors look closer to the proof, light tints stay light, and foil or spot UV stands out against a bright background. It suits skincare, jewelry, candles, stationery, apparel and tech accessories, where the brand wants the product to carry the color. If you want a bold look, print a solid color over the whole lid. If you want minimal, leave the wrap plain white and add one foil or embossed mark. One trade-off is that white shows scuffs and fingerprints more easily than a dark box, so a matte or soft-touch laminate helps hide handling marks.
How the box is built
Rigid boxes use chipboard, typically about 1.5 to 3 mm thick, with printed paper wrapped around it and turned in at the edges. The corners are formed and covered, which is why the box does not collapse flat like a folding carton. Common styles are a lid and base two-piece, a drawer-style slide and a shoulder-neck box with a separate lid. Sizing and inserts
Measure the product at its widest, tallest and deepest points, then add about 1/8 inch of clearance each side if it sits loose, or cut a foam or paperboard insert to hold it firm. An insert is what makes a rigid box feel designed: it keeps a bottle upright, holds a ring in a slot or lines up a set of items. Inserts add a little to the footprint, so measure the product plus the insert wall. Send us dimensions and we draw the dieline, and our custom foam inserts can be matched to the box.
Lead with the sample. A rigid box is a handmade object in many ways, and the wrap, the corner finish and the way the lid seats all show up in person in a way a screen proof cannot. Because there is no minimum order, ordering one finished box first is a reasonable step for anything with a tight fit, a foil mark or a large solid color, and it lets you adjust the size before a larger run goes ahead.

When a rigid box is the wrong choice
Rigid boxes cost more to make and ship than folding cartons, and they take up more room in storage because they do not collapse. If your item is light, sold in volume and does not need a gift presentation, a folding carton is more sensible.
