Sizing for a cone
Pre-roll sizes differ, so measure your actual product. Take the length of the cone with the filter and the diameter at the widest point, usually near the mouth, which is wider than the tip. Allow a few millimetres of length clearance so the cone does not bend and a little diameter clearance so it slides out without tearing the paper. For a multipack, measure the bundle width with the cones laid side by side, not stacked loosely.
Too much space lets the cone rattle and break. Too little crushes the tip. A snug fit with a soft liner or a paper wrap keeps both problems away.
Tube, box or bag: choosing honestly
A printed paperboard sleeve over a tube is the best-looking option, but it adds a part to assemble, and assembly labour matters once you are filling thousands. A carton with a tray inside is quicker to pack and ships flat, though it protects less if a retailer drops the case. A plain tube with a label is the cheapest to assemble and still gives the cone full crush protection. Think about where the breakage actually happens in your supply chain, at the filling line, in transit or at the dispensary counter, and pay for protection there rather than everywhere.
