Custom reed diffuser boxes are printed cartons built around one job: keeping a bottle of scented oil standing upright with its reeds protected until the customer opens it. TBPB makes them to your bottle size with no minimum order, and if you bring a written quote for the same specifications, we beat it.
Why the bottle position matters more than the print
A reed diffuser is a liquid product with a bundle of loose sticks attached. If the bottle can tilt even a little, oil creeps past the stopper and soaks the reeds, the insert and every other carton in the shipping case. So the first design decision is not artwork. It is how the bottle is held. The usual answer is a die-cut paperboard insert or a collar that grips the shoulder of the bottle, with a separate slot or tray for the reeds so they do not rub against the label.
If your bottles are heavy glass, say 100 ml and up, a plain folding carton with a thin partition will work for local deliveries but is a gamble in parcel networks. In that case we would point you toward a firmer insert, and our custom foam inserts are worth a look when the bottle is thick-walled or the pack ships alone.
Getting the size right
Measure the bottle at its widest point, not at the neck, and measure its full height with the stopper in place. Then measure the reed bundle laid flat: reeds are usually longer than the bottle is tall, which is why many diffuser cartons are tall and narrow, or open on a flap so the reeds lie diagonally. Add roughly 1/8 inch of clearance per side for a folding carton so the bottle slides in without scuffing the label. Send us those three numbers and we draw the dieline from them.
Board, print and finish
Most diffuser cartons are made from folding carton paperboard, commonly in the 16 to 24 pt range, which holds a crisp fold and takes ink well. Kraft board suits a natural, botanical look. Corrugated is only worth considering when the carton doubles as the shipping box. Print is CMYK or Pantone-matched, and coatings run from matte or gloss aqueous to soft-touch lamination. Foil stamping and spot UV on the brand name are popular on gift sets, though they add handling steps and are best reserved for the front panel.
- Folding carton, tuck end or auto-bottom, sized to your bottle
- Die-cut paperboard insert or collar to hold the bottle upright
- Separate reed slot or flap so sticks stay clear of the label
- Optional window, foil, spot UV, embossing or soft-touch coating
- Printed on supplied artwork, one carton or thousands
When a different box is the better call
If you sell a diffuser together with a candle, a gift set needs a bigger format, and our custom luxury candle boxes or a rigid gift box will suit better than a single-bottle carton. For small sample vials rather than full-size diffusers, bottle boxes are the simpler fit. You can browse the wider custom retail packaging range too.
Fragrance products carry labelling rules, so the warnings, ingredients and any regulatory text on the box are your responsibility. We print the artwork you supply, and you should confirm requirements with your own regulatory adviser.
To get a quote, send the bottle height, width and depth and the quantity, even if it is one. We will draw the dieline and come back with a price.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for custom reed diffuser boxes?
There is no minimum order. You can order one carton to test the fit with a real filled bottle, or ten thousand for a full launch. The dieline is drawn to your bottle size either way.
How do I stop a reed diffuser leaking in the box?
Hold the bottle upright with a die-cut insert or collar that grips the shoulder, and make sure the stopper or cap is sealed. Pack the reeds in their own slot so they never rest against the opening.
What size should a reed diffuser box be?
Measure the bottle at its widest point and its full height with the stopper on, then add about 1/8 inch of clearance per side. Measure the reed bundle separately, because reeds are often taller than the bottle.
Do the boxes need a window?
No. A window lets buyers see the bottle on a shelf, but it exposes the glass to light and handling. A fully printed carton protects the product better and gives you more room for branding and fragrance notes.
Can you print foil or soft-touch finishes on diffuser cartons?
Yes. Foil stamping, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch lamination are available on folding carton stock. They work best on the front panel and brand name, since each added finish is an extra production step.
Can I get a price match on reed diffuser boxes?
Yes. Bring a written quote for the same size, board, print and quantity, and TBPB will beat it. Send the specifications and we will confirm what we can do.
