Shipping and Turnaround

Standard production runs 7 to 14 business days, depending on the box style, print method, and finishing you choose, a simple kraft mailer moves faster than a box with foil stamping or spot UV. Need it sooner? We handle rush requests case by case, so email us your deadline before you place the order and we’ll tell you straight whether we can hit it.

Shipping is free on every order, in the United States and internationally. We ship with FedEx, UPS, USPS or DHL depending on your location and order size, and you’ll get a tracking number as soon as your order leaves our facility.

A custom printed cake box is a folding carton sized to your cake board, printed with your bakery branding, and strong enough to carry a finished cake without the sides bowing in. TBPB makes them with no minimum order, and the price-beat guarantee covers any written quote you bring for the same specs.

The two measurements that matter

Most bad cake boxes fail on height, not width. Measure the cake board across, then measure the full height of the finished cake including any topper, dome of piped buttercream or sugar flowers. The box interior should leave roughly an inch of clearance around the board, and the lid needs clearance above the highest decoration so nothing touches the inside of the lid. A cake that fits with no room for error will smudge the first time the box tilts. If you sell tiered or tall cakes, tell us the real height rather than the standard one.

Window or no window

A die-cut window on the lid lets customers see the decoration without opening the box, which helps in a counter display and for pickup orders where staff can confirm the right cake. It also weakens the lid slightly and shows any smear that happened in transit. Designs with detailed piping or bright icing tend to benefit from a window, while a plain naked cake or a cake that is covered in loose sprinkles often travels better in a solid lid. A window can be cut in any shape, but a simple rectangle or square keeps the lid stiff.

Board and construction

Folding carton paperboard in kraft or white is the usual choice for small and medium cakes, typically in the 18 to 24 pt range for a stiff box. Taller or heavier cakes are better in corrugated E-flute, which resists crushing and handles a wobbly carry. A one-piece box with a folded lid is quick to set up, and a locking corner design adds sturdiness without tape. Grease from buttercream and ganache can mark plain paperboard over time, so ask us about a coating if your cakes sit in the box for hours. Food-contact requirements are yours to confirm with your regulatory adviser, and we print the artwork you supply.

Print that matches the bakery

White board shows pastel and bright artwork accurately, while kraft gives a rustic, handmade look that suits small bakeries. Aqueous coating adds scuff protection. Matte lamination feels soft in the hand. Spot UV or foil on a logo gives a small boutique touch. Keep the logo on the lid, where the customer sees it, and put your phone number and website on the side panel.

For delivery orders, add a cake board that matches the box floor and a non-slip mat or a dab of icing under the board, because even a well-fitted box will slide on a car seat. If the cake is chilled, remember that cold board and warm humid air can leave condensation on a coated lid, so let the box warm up a little before the customer opens it.

  • Cake box sized to your cake board and height
  • Optional die-cut window on the lid
  • Kraft or white paperboard, or corrugated E-flute for tall cakes
  • One-piece fold-up design with tuck or locking corners
  • CMYK or Pantone printing with aqueous, matte or spot UV finishes

If you also sell smaller items, match them with kraft cupcake boxes and kraft pie boxes so the counter looks like one brand. Browse more in the bakery boxes category.

Next step: send your cake board size, the cake height and your quantity, even if it is a single box. We draw the dieline and quote it.

Frequently asked questions

  1. What size cake box do I need?

Measure your cake board across and the full cake height, including toppers and piping. Leave about an inch of clearance around the board and room above the tallest decoration. Send those numbers and we will check them against the dieline before you approve anything.

  2. Is there a minimum order for custom cake boxes?

No. TBPB has no minimum order, so you can order a single box to test fit or a full run for a busy season. You send size and artwork, we draw the dieline, and the quote follows the quantity you need.

  3. Should my cake box have a window?

A window shows off detailed decoration and helps staff confirm a pickup. It also weakens the lid a little and reveals any smudging. Plain cakes or ones with loose sprinkles often travel better in a solid lid. We can cut a window in the shape you prefer.

  4. What board is best for cake boxes?

Kraft or white folding carton paperboard works for small and medium cakes. Tall or heavy cakes do better in corrugated E-flute, which resists crushing during a carry. Tell us the cake weight and height and we can suggest a stronger build.

  5. Can cake boxes handle greasy icing?

Plain paperboard can mark from buttercream or ganache over time. Ask about a coating if cakes stay boxed for hours. Food-contact suitability is something you should confirm with your own regulatory adviser. We print the artwork you supply on the material we agree.

  6. Can I print my bakery logo on the box?

Yes. We print supplied artwork in CMYK or matched Pantone colors on kraft or white board. A logo on the lid with contact details on the side panel is a common layout, and foil or spot UV can highlight the logo.

Why Choose Custom Printed Cake Boxes?

A custom printed cake box gives your finished cakes a branded carrier that holds up between the counter and the customer. It is sized to your cake board and height, with an optional window so the decoration shows. Bakeries choose it because a plain white box says nothing about the cake inside, while a printed one carries your name to every party and office. TBPB makes it with no minimum order, so a small shop can start with one design.

Why Custom Printed Cake Boxes are Essential for Your Cakes?

Pick the size from the cake, not from a standard chart. Measure the board across and the full height with toppers, and leave about an inch around the board. Choose a window for detailed decoration and a solid lid for loose or very soft toppings. Stay with paperboard for small and medium cakes, and move to corrugated if the cake is tall or heavy. Keep the logo on the lid and contact details on the side. Order one sample before a bigger run. Send us your sizes and we will confirm them on the dieline.
