Match the carton to the container

The carton depends on what is inside. A bottle of capsules needs a tall, narrow carton, usually a straight tuck end or reverse tuck, sized to the bottle’s diameter and height. A blister strip or a stick-pack set fits a flatter, wider box. A dropper bottle fits a smaller, taller carton, and our dropper bottle boxes are built around that shape. A multi-pack or a monthly subscription often uses a larger carton with a divider, holding several bottles or blister cards.

This is the point where many supplement brands go wrong. They design the artwork first, then discover the bottle is 2 mm too wide. Get the container in hand, measure it, and let the carton follow.

Sizing a supplement carton

Measure the widest point of the bottle, which is often the cap or the shoulder, not the body. Measure the full height including the cap. Add about 1/8 inch of clearance per side. For blister cards, measure the stack of cards and the leaflet together if you fold a leaflet inside.

If you include a printed leaflet or dosing card, tell us. It changes the carton depth, and a carton that is slightly too thin makes the leaflet buckle the panels.

The facts panel is the layout

A supplement carton has a lot of mandatory copy to fit: the facts panel, ingredient list, directions, storage notes and any warnings. In practice that copy decides the panel layout. Plan the largest panel for the facts and put your brand story on the others. A clean back panel with legible type sells better than a crowded one, and small text that cannot be read in the store is its own kind of mistake.

One closure question comes up often: tamper evidence. A tuck flap on its own does not show whether a carton has been opened. The usual fix is a printed seal label across the flap, which you can order alongside the cartons from our custom packaging labels.
