How a rigid candle box is built
A rigid box starts with chipboard, usually 1.5 mm to 3 mm thick, cut and glued into a shell and then wrapped in printed paper. It behaves nothing like a folding carton. Squeeze it and it does not flex, which matters for a product that gets handled in a shop, stacked on a shelf and handed over as a gift. The usual candle constructions are a two-piece box with a separate lid, a book-style hinged box, and a magnetic flap. The plain lift-off lid is the most forgiving on tolerances. Magnets add cost and a satisfying click, and some brands build their whole unboxing around that sound. If you only need the two-piece structure without the luxury build, the two-piece candle box is the simpler route.
Fit the vessel, then build the box around it
Measure the finished candle at its widest point, which is often the lid or the lip rather than the jar body, and measure the height with the lid on. The insert is cut to those numbers, and the outer box is sized from the insert. A heavy glass jar needs an insert that actually grips it, such as die-cut foam or a stacked board cradle. A paper-only collar looks tidy on a shelf, but a multi-wick candle can weigh well over a pound and will find the gap. Our custom foam inserts are made for exactly this job. Print, wrap and finish
Artwork is printed on the wrapping paper in CMYK, or with Pantone matches when your brand color has to land exactly. Finishes are where a candle box earns its price tag: matte or gloss lamination, soft-touch lamination, foil stamping on the logo, embossing, and spot UV for a single glossy detail on a matte field. One honest warning. Dark, full-coverage soft-touch shows fingerprints and scuffs faster than lighter colors, so test a sample if your box is black. Foil and emboss on a small logo usually look sharper than covering the whole lid in effects.
When a rigid luxury box is the wrong choice

No. TBPB has no minimum order, so you can order one sample box to check the fit or ten thousand for a full launch. Both go through the same dieline and quote process, and a sample is a good way to test the insert before you commit.
What is the difference between a rigid candle box and a folding candle box?
A rigid box uses thick chipboard wrapped in printed paper, so it holds its shape and feels heavy in the hand. A folding carton is thinner paperboard that ships flat and is glued or tucked closed. Rigid costs more to make and suits gifting and higher shelf prices.
How do I measure my candle for a custom box?
Measure the widest point of the vessel, usually the lid or rim, and the full height with the lid on. Send those numbers and the weight if you can. We size the insert to the vessel first and build the outer box around it.
Can the box have a magnetic lid?
Yes. A magnetic flap or magnetic lid is one of the closures we can build on a rigid candle box. A plain lift-off lid is cheaper to produce and more forgiving on fit, so tell us how the box will be used and we will suggest one.
Will a rigid candle box survive shipping on its own?
Not reliably. Rigid boxes protect the candle in a shop or in a gift bag, but parcel carriers drop and crush things. For e-commerce, put the finished box inside a corrugated shipper with some void fill so the corners stay sharp.
Can I print my logo with foil or embossing?
Yes. Foil stamping and embossing are available on the lid or sides, alongside matte, gloss and soft-touch lamination and spot UV. Keep fine foil lines at a reasonable thickness, because very thin strokes can fill in during stamping.
