Candle Dust Cover

A candle dust cover is a printed cover that sits over the open jar to keep dust, lint and fingerprints off the wax surface between pouring and the first burn. TBPB makes it custom to your jar diameter with no minimum order, so a one-off test run costs the same effort as a full production batch.

Shipping and Turnaround

Standard production runs 7 to 14 business days, depending on the box style, print method, and finishing you choose, a simple kraft mailer moves faster than a box with foil stamping or spot UV. Need it sooner? We handle rush requests case by case, so email us your deadline before you place the order and we’ll tell you straight whether we can hit it.

Shipping is free on every order, in the United States and internationally. We ship with FedEx, UPS, USPS or DHL depending on your location and order size, and you’ll get a tracking number as soon as your order leaves our facility.

A candle dust cover is a printed cover that sits on the rim of an open candle jar and keeps dust, lint and fingerprints off the wax until the customer lights it. TBPB prints custom dust covers to your jar size with no minimum order, and if you bring a written quote for the same specs, we beat it.

What a dust cover actually protects

Soy and coconut blends are the worst offenders. The surface stays slightly tacky for days after a pour, and anything that lands on it sticks: a stray fiber, a flake of cardboard from the shipping carton, a thumbprint from a hurried packer. A cover over the jar mouth stops all of that, and it keeps the jar looking untouched on a shelf where customers lift lids and sniff.

It does not seal the jar. A dust cover is not an airtight lid, so it will not hold fragrance in for months and it will not stop a jar from leaking if it tips in a box. If scent throw in storage is the problem, pair the cover with a closed carton such as the candle jar boxes we print.

Sizing the cover to your jar

Measure the outside diameter of the jar at the rim, not the base, and not the label area. Jars with a lip or a flared mouth need the lip measurement. Tell us the rim diameter and the jar height and we draw the cover to sit snug without bowing the jar. A cover that is too tight tears when it comes off. One that is too loose slides off in transit and does nothing.

  • Round covers sized to the jar rim, with the fit confirmed on the dieline before print
  • Full-color CMYK print, or Pantone-matched spot colors for a brand shade that has to be exact
  • Matte or gloss aqueous coating, or soft-touch lamination for a velvet feel
  • Foil stamping and embossing on the logo if the budget supports it
  • Kraft or white stock, depending on how natural or how crisp the brand should look

Board and print choices

Most dust covers are made from paperboard in the 16 to 24 pt range, or from kraft board when the brand leans natural. Heavier board stays flat and feels deliberate. Thinner board costs less to ship but can curl at the edge in a humid room. White stock gives the brightest color on a logo. Kraft gives an earthy look, and our kraft candle dust covers are built around it.

Keep the artwork simple. The cover is small, so a big logo and one short line of text read better than a full ingredient panel. Save the burn instructions and safety warnings for the jar label or the outer carton.

A practical note on handling: pack covers flat and apply them after the wax has fully set and cooled. A cover pressed onto warm wax can mark the surface, and that defeats the whole purpose. If you run a small batch operation, put cover application at the very last step before the jar goes into its carton, so nobody handles the open jar afterwards.

When another format works better

If your candles ship to customers, a dust cover alone will not survive the trip. You need a carton around the jar, and for a gifting look a candle window box shows the jar through a cut-out. For heavier jars, a candle shipping box with an insert does the protecting, and the dust cover becomes the finishing touch inside.

Send us the jar rim diameter, the height, and how many covers you need, even if it is one, and we will draw the dieline and quote it. You can also browse the full range under candle packaging.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Is there a minimum order for custom candle dust covers?

No. TBPB has no minimum order, so you can order one cover to check the fit or ten thousand for a full launch. The setup is the same, and you can reorder at any quantity later without renegotiating anything.

  2. How do I measure my candle jar for a dust cover?

Measure the outside diameter across the rim of the jar, then note the jar height. Do not measure the base or the label area, since many jars taper. Send both numbers and we draw the cover to fit the rim snugly and confirm it on the dieline.

  3. Does a candle dust cover keep the scent in?

Not by itself. A dust cover keeps dust and fingerprints off the wax, but it is not an airtight lid. If scent retention in storage matters, put the jar inside a closed carton as well, or use the cover together with the jar manufacturer lid.

  4. What material are candle dust covers made from?

Typically paperboard, either white stock for bright color or kraft board for a natural look. Board weight is usually in the 16 to 24 pt range. We confirm the exact stock with you when we send the dieline, so you see it before anything prints.

  5. Can I print my logo and scent name on the cover?

Yes. Full-color CMYK or Pantone-matched colors are both possible, along with matte, gloss or soft-touch finishes, and foil or embossing on the logo. Because the cover is small, a logo and one short line, such as the scent name, usually reads best.

  6. Do dust covers protect candles during shipping?

Only lightly. They keep the wax surface clean but will not absorb impact. For shipped candles, use a fitted carton or shipping box with an insert, then use the dust cover as the finishing layer inside the box.

Why Choose the Candle Dusk Cover?

The wax surface of a freshly poured candle collects dust faster than most makers expect, and customers notice every speck the moment they open the box. A printed dust cover sits over the jar mouth and shields the surface from the pour table to the first burn. It also gives you one more place for your logo, scent name or a short thank-you line that the customer sees before they touch the candle. TBPB prints them to your exact jar rim size, in the stock and finish you choose, with no minimum order.

Why is the Candle Dusk Cover Important?

Start with the jar rim, not the jar. Measure the outside diameter at the top edge and send it with the jar height, so the cover is drawn to sit snug. Then choose the stock: white board for crisp color and fine logo detail, kraft board for an earthy look. Add a finish only if it earns its place. Matte coating is a safe default, soft-touch adds a velvet feel, and foil works best on one small mark rather than the whole cover. If you are unsure, ask for a single sample cover first.
