Do custom cube boxes have a minimum order?

No. TBPB has no minimum order on cube boxes. You can order a single sample box to test the fit, a few dozen for a launch, or thousands for a retail run. The process is the same: send dimensions, approve the dieline, then we print.

What size should a cube box be for my product?

Measure the product at its widest in height, width and depth, then add about 1/8 inch per side for clearance. Add the thickness of any tissue, insert or divider. If your product is long and thin, a cube will leave it loose and a taller carton will fit better.

Can a cube box be printed on the inside?

Yes. Folding carton and kraft cube boxes can be printed on the outside, the inside, or both. Inside print is a good way to add a pattern, a thank-you message or care instructions. It does add a print pass, so mention it when you send your artwork.

Are cube boxes strong enough to ship?

A paperboard cube is fine inside a larger shipping carton, but on its own it offers limited crush protection. For direct mailing, corrugated board is the safer build, or you can ship the finished cube inside one of our mailer boxes. Tell us the product weight and we will suggest the right board.

Can you add an insert to a cube box?

Yes. We cut paper inserts, dividers and foam inserts to your product so it does not shift. Inserts are worth it for glass, ceramics and candles. Send the product dimensions and tell us what needs holding in place.

We can match to a Pantone reference when you supply it, and we print from your supplied artwork. Colour on uncoated kraft board will always look warmer and flatter than on white coated board, so choose the stock with that in mind.

Custom Cube Boxes, No Minimum Order

A custom cube box is a box with equal, or very close to equal, width, depth and height. It is the shape people reach for when the product is round or squat and a tall, narrow carton would swallow it. TBPB makes cube boxes to your measurements with no minimum order, and if you bring a written quote for the same specs we will beat it.

Why the cube proportion works for some products and not others

A cube wastes the least material for the volume it holds, and it looks deliberate on a shelf or a gift table. It also stacks cleanly in a shipping carton because there is no long side to flex. The catch is that a cube is a poor fit for anything long. A pen, a serum dropper or a tube of lip balm will rattle in a 4 inch cube. If your product is taller than it is wide by a clear margin, a tuck top box in a taller proportion will protect it better and use less board.

Cubes shine with a mug, a poured candle in a jar, a glass ornament, a bath bomb set, a small plant pot, a stack of cookies or a three-piece skincare kit laid flat. Think about what the item looks like from above. If the footprint is roughly square or round, a cube is usually the right call.

Sizing a cube box without guessing

Measure the product at its widest point in all three directions, then add about 1/8 inch of clearance per side for a folding carton. Tight enough that nothing slides, loose enough that the lid or tuck does not fight you on the packing line. If you are adding tissue, a crinkle paper nest or a paperboard divider, measure that stack too, not just the product.

Because a cube has one measurement doing three jobs, small errors multiply. Half an inch too generous in every direction leaves a lot of dead space, and dead space is where products shift and corners crush. Send us the real product, or its exact dimensions, and we will tell you if a true cube or a slightly off-cube proportion fits better.

Board and print options

Cube boxes are normally built from folding carton paperboard in the 16 to 24 pt range, or from kraft board when you want the natural look. Heavier items such as a filled candle jar may justify the upper end of that range or an insert. For mailing a cube through the post, corrugated E-flute adds crush resistance that paperboard alone does not give you.

If the box is mainly a gift presentation piece, look at a gift pillow box for flat or soft items, or a round top box when you want a curved lid. A cube is also not the answer if your customers will open and close the box dozens of times. Folding cartons are built for a handful of openings, not daily storage.
