The rules decide the box
With delta-9 products, the label and the pack are regulated before they are designed. Requirements differ by state and also by whether the product is hemp-derived or sold through a licensed cannabis program. Common themes include a clear THC content statement, serving and total-package amounts, a batch or lot reference, ingredient and allergen details, warning statements, and in many places an opaque, non-appealing-to-minors design. Some states restrict cartoon imagery or bright candy-style graphics. We cannot tell you which rules apply to you, and nothing here is legal advice. Child-resistant packaging: be clear on what we are and are not
Many jurisdictions require child-resistant packaging, and that usually means a tested, certified container, not just a hard-to-open carton. Our printed cartons are not certified child-resistant. A common approach is to use a certified child-resistant inner container or pouch that you source, and use a printed TBPB carton as the outer pack that carries the branding and label. If a particular format must itself be certified, tell us before ordering and we will say plainly whether we can supply it.
Matching the carton to the product
A gummy tin or jar needs a tuck-end or sleeve carton sized with about an eighth of an inch of clearance per side. A vape cartridge needs a snug insert so it cannot rattle. A tincture bottle fits a tall carton with a paperboard holder. For multi-flavour sets, think about dividers. Designing for the shelf and the regulator
Treat the label panel as part of the design from day one, not an afterthought. Put the mandatory text on a flat panel with a clean background so it stays legible, and leave a gap so folds and glue flaps do not cut through it. Keep the brand look professional and adult. Opaque board and a solid print on the inside are worth considering if your state asks the contents to be hidden.
Because compliance changes, some brands print a blank white panel and apply a compliant label or sticker after filling. That is a sensible way to run several states with one box. Ask us to leave an unprinted label area on the dieline and we will do that.
