What a brand can change: the paperboard around the juice
The multipack carton is where a juice brand has real freedom. It is a folding carton, and every choice about it either supports or undermines a sustainability claim.

Recyclable, compostable, biodegradable: use the right word
A plain paperboard carton with aqueous coating and water-based ink is recyclable in almost every US curbside program, and that is the claim to make. Compostable is a different standard that needs certification for the specific material and coating, and it is rarely worth chasing for a carton that will go in the paper bin anyway. Biodegradable is the word to avoid: the Federal Trade Commission’s Green Guides treat it as a claim that the whole item breaks down within a year in a landfill, which paperboard in a landfill does not reliably do. Say recyclable, say what it is made of, and put the how-to-recycle instruction on the pack.
Kids’ multipacks: the 8 and 10 count
The most common juice box multipack holds eight or ten bricks in two rows, in a fully enclosed paperboard carton with a tear-open front or a handle. Cold pressed and premium juice in glass or PET usually sells as singles or pairs, and the pack is a printed sleeve or a two-bottle carrier rather than a closed carton. A kraft sleeve with a die cut window shows the color of the juice, which sells the product, and if the window is left open rather than filled with plastic film the sleeve stays mono-material. Shipping cases and trays
The outer case is the biggest single piece of board in the chain, and it is where right-sizing pays most. A tray plus a paperboard hood replaces a tray plus shrink film without changing the pallet pattern. A case cut to the exact pack size instead of the nearest stock size removes void fill.
