Shipping and Turnaround

Shipping is free on every order, in the United States and internationally. We ship with FedEx, UPS, USPS or DHL depending on your location and order size, and you’ll get a tracking number as soon as your order leaves our facility.

Custom small kraft boxes are compact brown paperboard cartons cut to your product size, and TBPB makes them with no minimum order. Bring a written quote for the same specs elsewhere and our price-beat guarantee means we beat it.

What belongs in a small kraft box

Small kraft cartons suit products that are modest in size and weight: earrings and rings, pocket-size soaps, tea samples, spice sachets, lip balm, bath bombs in small formats, beard oil bottles, seed packets, screws and small hardware, wedding favors, and trial-size skincare. The brown board suits natural and handmade brands, and the small size makes it a good sample or add-in carton inside a larger order. It is also a practical choice for businesses that need many different small sizes, since each dieline is cut separately to the product.

Getting the size right at small scale

An error of 2 millimetres matters far more in a 2 inch box than in a shipping carton. Measure the product at its widest, longest and tallest points, with any wrap, pouch or insert it will have inside the box. For a folding carton, about 1/8 inch of clearance per side is the normal starting point, though a very small box may use less. If you are unsure, send us a sample and we cut a dieline to the real item. Do not guess based on a similar product, because small differences in thickness change how the flap closes.

Board, print and closure

Small cartons are normally made from kraft paperboard in a thin-to-medium caliper, since a thick board folds poorly in a small size. The inside of kraft board is brown, and the outside takes ink as a muted, earthy colour. Dark inks, white ink and foil give the strongest print on brown. Fine detail suffers at this scale, so keep logos simple and type reasonably large. Matte aqueous coating protects the print. Tuck-end, tuck-top and lid-and-base closures are the usual options.

  • Style: tuck end, tuck top, lid and base, sleeve
  • Board: natural kraft paperboard
  • Print: one to full colour, white ink, Pantone match, foil, blind emboss
  • Extras: inserts, tissue, stickers, belly bands
  • Quantity: no minimum order

Matching the box to the job

If the box will be given as a gift, a kraft box with lid feels more ceremonial than a tuck. For larger gifts, kraft gift boxes cover bigger formats, and kraft tuck top boxes are the quick-pack option. If a very small premium item needs a stiffer feel, small rigid boxes are a different construction. Browse the full kraft boxes category for sizes and shapes.

Ordering many small sizes at once

Small-box brands often run several products in a collection: a ring box, a bracelet box, a sample box. Because there is no minimum order, each size can be ordered at the quantity it actually sells, rather than all of them at the volume the biggest seller needs. Keep the artwork consistent across the set so the whole collection reads as one range on the shelf.

A quick fit test before a large run

Order one printed box, put the real product in it, close the flap and shake it gently. If the product rattles, the box is too big, and if you have to push the flap down, it is too small. Check the print as well. A logo that looked balanced on a screen can sit too close to a fold line once the carton is built. Because no minimum order applies, this test costs you one box, and it can save an entire print run from a fit error that nobody noticed on screen.

Send the product dimensions and your quantity, even if it is one, and TBPB will draw the dieline and quote it.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Is there a minimum order for small kraft boxes?

No. TBPB has no minimum order on small kraft boxes. Order one to confirm the fit, a dozen for a market stall, or thousands for a retail line. You see and approve the dieline before printing, whatever the quantity.

  2. What is the smallest kraft box you can make?

There is no fixed size that applies to every build, because it depends on the closure and the board. Send us the product dimensions and we tell you whether the size is practical, and which closure style folds best at that scale.

  3. Can you print bright colours on small kraft boxes?

Brown kraft mutes bright and pastel colours, so dark inks, white ink and foil give the strongest result. Small panels also lose fine detail, so keep logos simple. If your brand colours need to stay true, ask about white board instead.

  4. What can I use small kraft boxes for?

Common uses are jewelry, tea and spice samples, lip balm, soaps, favors, seeds, small hardware and trial-size cosmetics. If the contents are edible or cosmetic, you are responsible for labelling and contact requirements, so check with your own regulatory adviser.

  5. Do small kraft boxes need an insert?

Not always. Light, solid items sit fine in a carton cut to size. Delicate items like jewelry benefit from a paper insert or a small foam cut-out to stop movement. Tell us what the box holds and we advise on whether an insert helps.

  6. How should I measure for a small box?

Measure the product at its longest, widest and tallest points, including any wrap or pouch. Allow about 1/8 inch per side for a folding carton, less for tiny cartons if the fit is tight. Send a sample if you can and we cut the dieline to it.

Product Overview

Small kraft boxes are the compact end of the natural-board range. They hold earrings, lip balm, sample sachets, wedding favors, seed packets, screws and fittings, and other items that fit in the palm of a hand. The brown uncoated board gives a handmade, honest look at a size where a glossy carton can feel fussy. TBPB cuts each box to your exact measurements, prints a logo or full artwork, and sets no minimum order, so a small maker can start with a dozen and a bigger brand can buy by the thousand.

What Are the Popular Styles in Small Kraft Boxes?

The smaller the box, the more every millimetre counts. Measure the product in three directions with the smallest ruler you can find, and send us the real numbers, not rounded ones. Choose the closure next: a tuck end is easy for the customer, a lid and base feels more like a gift, and a mailer-style box is better if the box will go into the post on its own. Then think about print. Small panels favour a short brand mark, a single dark colour, and generous blank space. Send us a sample if you can.
