A gift gable box is a carry-handle carton with a sloped, house-shaped top that folds and locks shut, used for party favors, small presents, baked treats and boutique gift sets. TBPB prints them to your size with no minimum order, and if you bring a written quote for the same specs we will beat it.

Why a gable box works as a gift

The box arrives flat and pops into shape. Two sloped panels meet at the top, a die cut handle sits on the ridge, and small tabs lock the roof closed. Because the handle is part of the box, the giver does not need a bag. That matters at events: a table of party favors, a wedding welcome gift or a school fundraiser all need something that looks wrapped and can be carried by one hand. The shape also leaves a flat front panel that takes a logo, a name or a message well.

What it holds, and where to be careful

Gable boxes are meant for light to moderate loads. A handful of chocolates, a candle, a small skincare set, cookies in a bag or a pair of socks are fine. A heavy glass jar is not. The handle is a die cut slot in the same board as the walls, so the board weight sets the carrying limit. For anything dense, step up to a thicker stock or consider a rigid style. If the gift is fragile, add a paperboard insert or tissue so it does not slide when carried.

Sizing a gable box

Measure the gift at its largest length, width and height. Add about 1/8 inch of clearance on each side. Then check the roof: the sloped top takes up vertical room, so the usable interior height is lower than the overall box height. Tall items poke the roof, and that is the most common reason a first order is too small. Send us the gift and we will check the proportions before a dieline is drawn.

Stock and print

Folding carton paperboard around 16 to 24 pt is common. White stock gives clean colour. Kraft board gives a handmade feel and suits natural or festive branding. Full colour CMYK, Pantone matching, matte or gloss aqueous coating, soft-touch lamination and foil stamping are all available. Foil on the front panel is a quick way to make a plain gift box look planned.

A practical tip for event orders: decide what goes on the roof panels before you finalize artwork. When the box is built, the two sloped panels face the crowd and the handle splits the design down the middle. A logo centred on the sloped face gets cut by the ridge fold, so artwork is usually split or placed lower on the walls. We mark the fold lines on the dieline so your designer can see exactly where the roof breaks. It saves a proof round.

  • Style: gable top with die cut carry handle, flat packed
  • Stock: folding carton paperboard or kraft board
  • Print: CMYK or Pantone matched colours on one or both sides
  • Finishes: aqueous coating, soft-touch, foil stamping, spot UV, embossing
  • Options: window cutout, paperboard insert, custom message on each panel

Frequently asked questions

  1. What is a gift gable box used for?

Gift gable boxes carry small presents, party favors, baked goods, candles and boutique gift sets. The built-in handle means no separate bag is needed, which helps at events and pop-ups. They are meant for light to moderate weight, so heavy glass or dense items need a sturdier style or a thicker board.

  2. Is there a minimum order for gable gift boxes?

No. TBPB has no minimum order, so you can order a single sample to test the fit or thousands for an event. Many customers order one box first to check the roof height and handle comfort before they approve a full print run.

  3. How much weight can a gable box carry?

It depends on the board and the item. Light to moderate loads such as chocolates, cookies or a small candle are fine. The handle is cut from the same board as the walls, so thicker stock carries more. For heavy items, tell us the weight and we will recommend a suitable board.

  4. How do I choose the right size?

Measure your gift at its longest, widest and tallest points. Add about 1/8 inch of clearance per side, and remember the sloped roof reduces usable height. Send us the measurements and the quantity, and we draw a dieline so you can check the proportions before printing.

  5. Can I put a window on a gable box?

Yes. A clear window cutout lets the gift show through the front panel. Ask for it when you request a quote, because the window changes the dieline and the strength of that panel. Our window gable boxes page shows the style if you want to see it first.

  6. Do gable boxes arrive assembled?

They arrive flat and fold into shape in seconds. You tuck the base tabs, lift the sides, and lock the roof. Shipping flat keeps freight space down and lets you store a large event order in a small area until you are ready to fill the boxes.

Product Overview

Gift gable boxes are small cartons with a sloped roof and a built-in carry handle. They look like a wrapped present, hold a small gift or treat, and need no separate bag. Boutiques, bakers, wedding planners and event organisers choose them because they pack flat, assemble fast and give a branded front panel for a logo or message. TBPB prints them to your dimensions and artwork and sets no minimum order, so you can proof a single box before a full order.

Learn More About Gift Gable Boxes

Pick the board first, because the handle shares the box wall. For light gifts, standard folding carton paperboard is enough. For denser items, ask about a thicker stock. White paperboard gives clean colour, while kraft board suits natural or festive looks. Size the box from the gift: measure the largest dimensions, add about 1/8 inch per side, and leave room under the roof. A window cutout suits food and candles that sell on sight. Finish choices run from matte aqueous to soft-touch and foil. Send the measurements and we draw the dieline.
