Why brands pick a sleeve over a label
A conventional label covers a patch of the container. A shrink sleeve wraps the whole body, shoulders and neck included, so the artwork can run edge to edge and follow the curve of an oddly shaped bottle. That is the main reason to use one. It is also why sleeves suit short runs and seasonal flavors: one container can carry a new design without a new mold or a new printed box. The trade-off is application. A sleeve has to be placed on the container and passed through steam or hot air to shrink it, so you need either a tunnel, a hand steamer or a co-packer who has one.
Getting the size right
Sleeves are sized from the container, and the measurement that matters most is the widest circumference, because the film must slide over that point before it shrinks. The flat width of the tube has to be a little larger than half that circumference, and the film must shrink enough to hug the narrowest part you want covered. Tall containers with a narrow neck shrink more at the top than at the base, which distorts the artwork if it is not planned for. Film, print and finish
Shrink sleeve films are generally printed on clear plastic films, and the choice among them depends on the container shape, the amount of shrink needed, and how the pack will be recycled. Ask us which film suits your container rather than assuming. Artwork is printed in full color with Pantone matching, and a white underprint helps colors stay bright on a clear container. A matte or gloss finish changes how the sleeve reads on the shelf. A tear-off perforation can turn the top of the sleeve into a visible tamper band, a common feature on beverage and supplement bottles.

When is another format better? If your container is a flat-sided jar with a straight wall, a pressure-sensitive label is usually simpler and needs no heat step.
