A hairspray carton looks simple, but the proportions cause problems. Cans are tall and thin, often several times taller than their diameter, so a carton that is a little too short crushes the cap or leaves the can rattling. Measure the full height with the cap on, and the diameter at the widest point, which is often the cap or the base rim rather than the body. Carton styles that work for sprays
The straight tuck end is the standard answer: a tube-shaped carton with a tuck flap at each end, simple to fill by hand and cheap to run. A reverse tuck end opens on one side of the face and tucks the other way, which makes the front panel cleaner for a bold logo. For a sleeve over a printed can, a slide-on band works well when the can itself is already decorated. If you sell a set, such as a spray plus a serum or a brush, a wider carton with a die cut insert holds each item separately. Round cylinder tubes are possible, but a square carton stacks and ships better.
Board, print and the regulatory side
Folding carton paperboard at roughly 16 to 24 pt is the usual stock. White gives clean colour, and kraft board suits a natural or salon-craft brand. Full colour CMYK or Pantone matched brand colours, matte or gloss aqueous coating, soft-touch lamination, foil stamping and spot UV are all available. Matte soft-touch works nicely for a salon-grade line.
A word of caution on content. Aerosol products carry warnings and handling rules, and shipping aerosols often has its own carrier requirements. TBPB prints the artwork and text you supply. Labelling, warning copy and shipping compliance are yours to confirm with your own regulatory adviser or carrier before artwork is approved.
Think about the shelf, too. A hairspray carton often sits upright in a row with a dozen others, so the top panel and the front of the lower third are what a shopper reads. Put the product name and hold level where the eye lands, and keep small print on the back. If you ship direct to customers, a tight carton also helps: the can cannot swing inside, and the cap stays centred, so the outer shipper does the heavy protection rather than the carton alone.
