Why a round bag, and when it is the wrong shape
Most pouches are rectangles because rectangles waste the least film. A circle wastes more, so there should be a reason. The reason is shelf presence: a round bag among rows of rectangles is the one the eye lands on. It suits things that are naturally flat and round, such as cookies, crackers, chocolate discs, stickers, patches, tea samples and small accessories. It suits bulky or tall products badly. Round bags do not stand up, and a circle of loose granules will slump into a pile at the bottom.
How the bag is built
The film is a laminate, usually a printed PET outer layer, a foil or metallized barrier layer, and a heat-sealable inner layer. That structure blocks light, oxygen and moisture far better than a clear poly bag. Because the outline is curved, the sealed border runs the whole way around the circle, so the usable cavity is always smaller than the outside diameter. Give us the diameter of the product, and we work back to the bag size, not the other way round.
Zipper, notch, hang hole and window
A zipper across the straight section near the top lets the customer reopen the bag, and a tear notch above it makes the first opening clean. A hang hole lets a retailer peg the bag on a rack. A clear window shows the product but lets in light, so decide whether freshness or visibility matters more. Print can be CMYK or Pantone, with a matte or gloss finish. Matte reads as modern and hides handling, while gloss makes color pop.

One practical point about artwork: a circle has no flat edges to anchor a layout, so designs that look balanced on a rectangle can feel off-center once cut. Keep logos and key text well inside the seal border, and let background color or pattern run out to the edge so the die cut never leaves a thin white sliver.
