Action figure packaging is usually a window box: a printed carton with a clear front, a backer card behind the figure and a die-cut tray that holds the figure and its accessories in pose. Add a hang tab and it hangs on a peg wall. Swap to a rigid box with a foam cradle and it becomes a collector edition. The Best Price Boxes makes all three for U.S. figure makers and customizers, plus plain blank boxes, with free design, a free digital proof and free shipping. Production takes 7 to 14 business days after proof approval.

Three ways to package an action figure
| Format | Best for | What holds the figure |
|---|---|---|
| Window box | Shelf retail, conventions, online stores | A die-cut paperboard tray with slots for the figure and each accessory, behind a clear film window. |
| Window box with hang tab | Peg walls at toy and hobby stores | The same tray, with a euro slot or hook hole in a reinforced top panel. |
| Rigid collector box | Limited runs, art toys, premium editions | A foam cradle cut to the figure, under a lift-off or magnetic lid. |
What about blister packs?
A blister is a clear molded plastic shell glued to a printed card. It is common on mass-market figures because the plastic follows the figure's shape. A window box with a die-cut tray gets you most of the same visibility with a carton that is easier to recycle, stacks better on a shelf and can be printed on every side. Many collectors also prefer boxes because they store and display better. If your design really needs a molded blister, mention it in your quote request and a specialist will tell you what we can supply for your size.
Sizing a figure box
Figures are sold by scale, measured as the height of a typical figure in the line. Use the scale as a starting point, then measure your actual figure.
| Figure scale | What to measure |
|---|---|
| 3.75 inch | Height in pose, widest point of arms or weapon, any base or stand. |
| 6 to 7 inch | Height, shoulder width with accessories attached, depth of the widest pose. |
| 12 inch and larger | Height, width with arms out, weight, which decides the board and hang tab strength. |
Then list every accessory that goes in the box: swap hands, heads, weapons, stands. Each needs its own slot in the tray or it rattles loose in shipping. We draw the tray and the box to your figure at no charge. The box measuring guide shows where each dimension is taken.
Designing the box
- Front: character name, line name, scale and age grade. Keep the window big enough to show the face.
- Backer card: art behind the figure turns the box into a diorama. Collectors who keep figures boxed see it every day.
- Back panel: the rest of the line, a short story or bio, the barcode and the legal panel.
- Sides: character art on the spine, so boxes on a shelf still read when turned sideways.
- Legal copy: tracking label, country of origin, producer name and address, and a choking hazard warning if small accessories go to the 3 to 6 age group. See the labeling guide.
Blank action figure boxes
Customizers, 3D printing studios and small figure makers often need a clean window box without a printed run. We make plain white or kraft window boxes with a tray in your size, or boxes printed in one color with your logo. They are a sensible way to test a figure at a convention before a full-color run.

Action figure packaging questions
What packaging do action figures come in?
Most come in a window box: a printed carton with a clear front, a backer card and a die-cut tray that holds the figure and accessories. Mass-market figures also use molded plastic blisters on a card, and premium editions use rigid boxes with foam inserts.
Can you make custom action figure boxes in small quantities?
Yes. There is no minimum for samples and first runs, and blank or one-color boxes are available for short runs. Orders of 1,000 units or more get wholesale pricing.
Do you make blank action figure packaging?
Yes. Plain white or kraft window boxes with a tray cut to your figure, or boxes printed in one color with your logo.
How do I get an action figure box template?
Use our action figure box dieline page, or send your figure size and we draw a template to it for free.
How do you stop accessories rattling around?
Each accessory gets its own slot in a die-cut paperboard tray or a foam insert, so nothing moves in transit.
Can the box hang on a peg?
Yes. We add a euro slot or hook hole in a reinforced top panel sized to the weight of the figure.
