Why cotton candy is hard to pack

Spun sugar is mostly air. A serving that weighs an ounce or two can fill a container the size of a cereal bowl, and every strand has surface that pulls in moisture. Once the pack lets humid air through, the floss shrinks, turns tacky and fuses into a lump. So the closure and the barrier matter more than the print.

Weight is the wrong way to size it. Pack by volume: fill a trial container with fresh floss, press the lid on without crushing it, and note what fits. Crushed candy looks sad on a shelf even when it tastes fine.

Tub, pouch or carton

A clear tub with a snap lid and a shrink band shows the color, which is the whole sales pitch for cotton candy, and it protects the floss from being squashed in a bag or a cart. A stand-up pouch with a barrier film and a zipper ships flatter and costs less to store, but it needs air left inside so the candy is not flattened. A printed carton works as a gift or retail outer, usually with a sealed inner bag or tub inside. If the candy ever touches the carton board directly, talk to your regulatory adviser first about the right contact layer.

For events where you spin to order, the better pack is often a simple printed bag or cone sleeve, because the customer eats it within minutes. Sealed shelf-life packs are for pre-made product.

Print and finish

We print your artwork in CMYK or matched Pantone colors. On cartons you can add matte or gloss aqueous coating, soft-touch lamination, spot UV or foil stamping. Flavour colors are loud, so many brands keep the pack background simple and let the candy do the shouting through a window or clear panel. Labelling, ingredient lists and allergen statements are yours to supply and check; we print the artwork you approve.

One practical tip: make the sample before you finalize artwork. Pack real floss, leave it for a day on a counter, and see how it holds up. That test tells you more about the closure than any spec sheet, and it takes the guesswork out of the first production run.
