Heat, handling and the shape of the carton
Chocolate melts, so the carton has to cope with warm days. A thicker board and a lighter exterior help slow heat transfer a little, but they do not replace ice packs for warm routes. Keep the printed carton for retail and gifting, and ship it inside a protective mailer box. That keeps the print clean and gives the chocolate something stiffer around it.
