What actually drives the price of a soap box?
Six things, and they do not weigh the same. Style and size come first because they set how much board goes into each box. Print coverage and finish come second. Quantity comes last, and for soap it is usually the one people over-think, because small runs are the whole point of ordering with no minimum.

Why is a sleeve cheaper than a full box?
A sleeve wraps around the bar and leaves the ends open, so it needs a strip of paperboard instead of a folded and glued carton. Less material, simpler die, fewer folds. The trade-off is protection: a sleeve will not stop a corner chip in a shipping carton, and it does not hold a bar that is not already wrapped. How do I size a soap box so I do not pay for air?
Measure the bar after it has cured and shrunk, add about an eighth of an inch of clearance on each side, and use that as the inside dimension. A worked example: a bar that measures 3.5 x 2.25 x 1 inches finished needs an inside size near 3.625 x 2.375 x 1.125 inches. If you quote from the mold size instead, you may order a box that slides around and looks cheap on the shelf.

Bars from the same batch can vary by a couple of millimeters, and that variation decides whether a snug fit becomes a tight one.
Does kraft or white board change the quote?
It can, but print is the bigger swing. Kraft is brown, so ink sits on the brown rather than replacing it, which suits earthy, handmade soap brands and keeps artwork simple. How do I compare two soap box quotes line by line?
