Zip Lock Paper Bags

What the zipper actually does for you

Plain paper bags close with a fold or a sticker, and neither survives a second opening. The zipper fixes that. It matters most for products people use over days or weeks: coffee beans, loose tea, granola, dried fruit, pet treats, craft supplies, small hardware. The bag also stands upright on a shelf if it has a gusseted base, and it hangs from a peg if you ask for a hang hole.

Be honest about what the zipper is, though. It is a resealable closure, not a gas-tight barrier. For anything sensitive to air and moisture over months, such as ground coffee that needs a long shelf life, talk to us about the liner and whether a barrier pouch like our stand-up pouches is the better fit.

Choosing the paper face and the lining

The outer face is usually kraft paper, either natural brown or white. Brown kraft gives that earthy craft look, and it takes bold one- and two-colour print well. White kraft gives cleaner colour and suits fuller artwork. The inside is typically lined so the zipper can seal and the bag resists grease and moisture better than bare paper. Ask us which liner suits your product, particularly for oily snacks or damp goods.

Sizing the bag for what goes inside

Bag volume is a function of the product, not the label dimensions. Weigh and measure a real filled sample, then decide how much headspace you want above the fill line for folding and sealing. Allow for the zipper and a top margin that tears away cleanly. If the bag is too tall for its contents, it flops on the shelf; too small, and the zipper strains and gapes. Window or no window

People buy what they can see. If the product looks good, such as nuts, candy or granola, a clear window lets the bag sell itself, and you can see that on our window zip lock paper bags. If the product is dull to look at or light-sensitive, a solid paper face with strong print is the smarter choice. For plain carry-out use with no reseal, a kraft bag costs less to make and does the job.
