Why perfume boxes are judged by touch
A fragrance is bought on a promise, and the box is the first physical evidence of it. Buyers pick it up before they ever spray it. Weight, edge sharpness, the sound of the lid and the way the bottle sits in its cavity all signal quality. A thin carton with a loose bottle tells the wrong story, however good the scent. That is why most luxury perfume boxes are rigid or use heavy paperboard with a foam, EVA or board insert fitted to the bottle shape.
Structures that work for fragrance
A lid-and-base rigid box is the classic, with the lid sitting flush or overhanging slightly. A shoulder-neck box has a lid that lifts away from a taller base and feels heavy and ceremonial. A magnetic book box opens like a cover and shows the bottle on its tray, and is a favorite for gift sets with a miniature or a body lotion. A drawer or sleeve box gives a slower reveal. For lighter, high-volume lines a folding carton in 18 pt to 24 pt board with a die-cut insert can look very good and costs much less, so match the structure to the price of the bottle, not the other way round.
Getting the cavity right
Measure the bottle at its widest point, its full height with cap, and the base shape. Perfume bottles are rarely a plain cylinder, so give us any facets, shoulders and atomiser details. Foam or EVA cut to the real outline holds the bottle without squeezing the cap, and a fabric or paper-wrapped tray hides the cut edges. Post a real bottle if you can. A 1/8 inch error that you only see on the finished production run is not something you can repair after the fact. Our custom foam inserts are made for this kind of fitted cavity.

Foil on the brand name, a deboss on the lid and a soft-touch matte wrap is a combination that rarely fails. Too many effects on one box can look busy, and each extra process adds a step and a risk. We print CMYK and match Pantone, and foil colors are chosen from a standard set. If the fragrance carries any labeling or regulatory wording, that copy is yours to confirm with your own adviser; TBPB prints the artwork supplied.
